Does anyone know of a scottish potter called Ian Bailey? I bought a little larch from Ken Leaver at Windybank a couple of weeks ago and Ken has told me that the tree was collected in Scotland by Ian Bailey the potter. Anyone know of him? |

Hi Daryl, Ian Baillie in my oppinion is one of the top potter's in the country, make's some exquisite pot's. He's also a pretty good bonsai artist as well being one of the founding member's of the Scottish bonsai Association, keep your eye's open for him at the show's you may visit and dont be shy he's a real gentleman, he'll only be to pleased to give you the history of your tree. Regards Molly |

Looking on ebay earlier this evening there was a pot listed that is made by an Ian Baillie, assuming the seller has the name spelt right could this be the potter you are looking for ? Edit A quick google of Ian Baillie bought up quite a lot of hits on bonsai pots |

Oh, thanks Molly. That's nice to know. It's a really nice tree, I'll get a picture up at the weekend and I'll look out for Ian in future. And thanks Tattoo - I'll have a look at that too. |

Hi Daryl, I am sure I have heard a few members of my local club mention an Ian as a potter pretty sure his surname is Bailey. Very well respected as far as I can tell. I'm sure there will be more information from others who know him as I have only been a member for a year now. Keith Edit, too late Molly obviously has more info than me. |

Silly me! I didn't think to check the pot for makers marks. I was too busy admiring the tree when I bought it and I haven't really studied it since. I'll have a good look tomorrow.

I saw some of his pots at an exhibition, some where brilliant, I loved the smaller pots he had on show. |
