Good luck.............. My wisteria is about 25 years old and has flowered twice, so Tried everything, I'm thinking of grafting some 'flowering' branches on the old lady.

I have found I get better flowering if slightly pot bound & alot of sun ( & of course alot of water ) After repotting with a root prune i find they you get alot more growth buds rather than flowering for 1 season may be 2, good if your devloping shape. My big one could of done with a repot last year but held off & looks like I am about to get a bumper flowering this year. I will put a picture when fully out as they are extending nicely now the tempreture is back up, also got a very old japanese one that was sick, but looks like that is bouncing back well for this year. also pruning back resonably early gives flowering buds plenty of time to develop for the next spring. |

My friends found that if he re pots every year he gets better flowers.....I suspect it is going to depend on which tree you have. experiment and see what is right for you |

This was mine last year:- http://www.flickr.com/photos/mapotter/s ... 636647710/ No flowers at all this year. It has flowered three years out of the five I have had it. Usually around 40 racemes. Must try to think what I did wrong (or just different)

i have done a fair bit of reading on wisteria bonsai as i did a silly thing when i first got into it and brought anything lol. i got mine from a garden centre for £15.00 and this is what happened about 5 months later ![]() DSCN0082 by Shaunny4, on Flickr nearly everything i read said that putting the tree under a bit of stress by making it pot bound really bring on the flowing because the tree thinks its not going to survive so it set out flowers which = seeds = reproduction. of course I'm still new to this game and havens had the year to see if it actually works but thats what i read. stymie do you reed after flowering and when pruning do you take it back to the usual 1-2 sets of leaves? also will it be ok to pot after its flowered as i want to put it in the massive pot we have in the garden to put on some growth? |

The 'growth' you want to encourage will be at the expense of flowers. Mine didn't flower the year after I repotted it but this year it must be REALLY potbound - and no flowers. |
