Post subject:  Position of bonsai outside?

Hello everyone -
Just a quick question about positioning bonsais outside... I have recently bought a little garden etagere to display my 3 trees, (as I'm not crafty enough to build my own bench). The slight issue is that the etagere is made of metal and the legs are fairly thin, so it needs a stable surface to sit on. I used to have the bonsais straight onto a gravel patch which is fully open, but that doesn't work for the etagere. The only position where I've been able to put it on hard ground is under an arch which has a vine growing on it (though obviously at the moment there are no leaves on the wine). The position is south-facing, so I guess some sun does come its way, but I worry that the arch and the vine do create a fair bit of shade. Would you say that this position is too shaded? The other option I have is to try to dig the feet of the etagere into the gravel to stabilize it.
(I have a Chinese elm, a juniper and trident maple, by the way).
Thanks a lot in advance.
Andreea

Hi

Can you push the legs into the gravel? Use some pieces of stone to weight it down if necessary

It's good that the position is south facing. But without a photo, it is really hard to say if it is too shaded or not.

Cheers,
Sandy
