Hi All, Been having some issues with a bonsai I bought 1 or 2 weeks ago. This is my second tree (different species) and the tips of the leaves appear to be turning white (See picture below). What could be the reason for this? Many thanks in advance for all your help, really want to save my tree!

I see a couple of things here older growth thats died off which is normal i also see i think (the photo is blurred) new growth on the tips of some of the branches. This is far lighter than the older growth and perfectly normal in these trees the examples where i see it most on this photo but with it being blurred its difficult. are bottom corner 3 tips are visible just slight back from the lower growth I could be off the mark here with this because the image is blurred could you post an in focus picture so i can see it better Alternative theory have you been painting recently? |

I agree. Just new juvenile growth much paler in colour than the older foliage. Perfectly natural. It looks like an evergreen and they lose their old leaves constantly. No evergreen can keep EVERY leaf it ever produces, they just don't lose them all at once in the autumn. I would remove the brown bit in the middle. It will not be missed. The tree looks healthy. |

Agree with all the above. Its not so much the existing tips turning white, but the new growth emerges from the ends of each branch, and that is lighter, or brighter. Note how it is more compact than the old at the moment. Soon it will match the old foliage. It is when this new growth doesnt happen all season that the tree is usually doomed. Welcom eto the forum, BTW. |

Are you keeping this tree inside or outside? It looks like its on a window sill inside. You're going to want to keep it outside if you're not doing so |
