I am a bonsai novice and I fear my tree is suffering as a result. A fair number of my juniper's tips are browning and there appears to be a white fungus on the needles aside from areas of new growth. As far as care is concerned, I have been leaving the tree outside in direct sunlight on sunny days and watering once a week with an occasional mist in between. I fed the tree about two weeks ago and water once a week. I have also been treating the tree with weekly fungicide for the past two weeks. Any suggestions to help save my tree would be greatly appreciated by both myself and the tree! |

I'm no expert here, but I think it's probably being underwatered. Once a week seems far to little. I've been recommended once a day, or every other day (dependant on soil), but in the temperatures we've experienced in the last few days, I would have thought every day was more likely. |

i would definately say water more often, you say its in the sun on sunny days so does it stay outside or some in and out? it should be outside all the time, as it is last years growth it is loosing and not this years growth which is still growing i would say you'll be fine as the tree has to loose it's old needles. |

Definitely under-watered. We normally water every day - and a LOT too in sunny weather. |

This type of tree doesn't do well in small pots. A few years ago, I put mine into a shallow pot and it really suffered. As soon as I re potted it it just sprang back to better health. As above it needs better watering, keep it outside and in the shade but good light |

The solution is - outside all the time, water daily or even twice daily in this heat. It should recover in a few weeks. If you can, place it where it can get some sun and some shade. |
