Howdy all,
I'm trying to identify a tree, it has a dark bark, oval shaped leaves [ opposite one another on the branch ] and yellow flowers.
I'm sorry for the bad quality of the images, they were taken from my phone.

I've managed to cut two branches today :

I was hoping to make cuttings out of them, but the stems are hollow, even where the branches are coming out.
I might have taken it from a too young branch, cause the main trunk and other thicker branches are solid wood from what I can see.

Any idea what it might be anyone?

The problem is, Xavier, that this might well be a tree entirely native to Mauritius. If the young shoots are hollow, then it doesn't sound like a Northern Hemisphere tree. The leaves look a little like eucalyptus, but that may only be because it is native to a warm climate. I'll have a look on the internet and see if anything looks like it.

Gwen's right.....but then she is a woman............... :132doh: sorry meant to say Lady!!!

I have had a look on google as well but cant find what you want, it might be better asking at your local nursery. They would have a better idea.

Not seen anything like it over in the UK

Gwen, are you going to Bristol tomorrow????

Xavier - can you get a close-up of the flower, so we can see clearly inside, and count the petals (and sepals, if there are any - it doesn't look on the face of it as though there are.) J.

Paul - no, I'm not going to Bristol tomorrow. Thought about it, but what with the cost of petrol and a red hawthorn to pay for it ended up on the cutting floor.
Judith Davison (Midland Bonsai) and I are going to the Newport Show at the end of August and staying over the weekend.

Thanks for the feed backs,
It seems to be some "Senna bicapsularis" or "Cassia bicapsularis".
Common names include Rambling Senna (formerly "cassia"), Christmas Bush, Money Bush, and Yellow Candlewood.
