I've done little else but water and try to make my wee trees as comfortable as possible today. An hour ago, at 4.30 pm, one of my benches registered 39C on the thermometer. If that's not stress, (for me and the trees), then I don't know what is. I love the sunshine, but this is a bit much. Why is it always an extreme in one direction or the other, never just right?

We had a tiny bit of rain today but not enough to wet anyones whistle and the sun soon came out to dry it all up |

its boiling up here in the north, we went to a garden centre today but the heat was to much and we made a quick exit home. |

Hot in Nottingham too, all the trees have been sorted now its my turn, off to the local village pub before i dry out. |

Its been that hot here for the last three days that im watering the trees in the morning , afternoon and evening. I lost a few cuttings that I forgot to water in a coldfame..all crispy. |

I think there is going to be a lot of crispness around by the time this heatwave comes to an end. A couple more days yet, they say. |

Someone once said to me that we don't have a climate, we just get WEATHER. S'very true. I know my trees aren't liking all this baking sun. I put some shading up for a few days and then noticed that they were droopy coz they weren't getting enough sunlight. You can't win. |

It was a cool 34°C in the shade, no great complaints only the Weigelia with all the flowers was a bit wilted. But my trees are in full sun anyway, if there is any that is. Was watering all day, in between sitting in the sun reading the paper and having a cool drink.

I was going to say this is throwing up bit of a test for me at such an early stage to bonsai, the last thing I want is to loose a tree so early due to underwatering in this heatwave we are having, so far looking very healthy, looks like I am going to make it through! Plenty of love and car with the mother on speed dile when I am in the office! |
