Hi Guys, I need help with my Japanese Holly. The leaves seem to be turning yellow and I don't know why. I have attached some photos for you to review and let me know your thoughts. Cheers Dave |

Are you sure the yellow leaves aren't new shoots? I thought the same thing with my Holly, but they eventually turn gree, with new shoots turning yellow :) |

Hi, I water the Holly everyday and feed with Chrysal every two weeks and keep it out direct sun light in the garden. All the leaves are turning a pale yellow not a bright yellow, so they are not new shoots. I'm trying to upload the images but they are too big from my I-Phone. Is there a central email address I can send them to? Regards Dave |

Hi all, I have had a similar problem with mine for a few weeks now so would like to know the cause myself. I thought it was just shedding some of the old leaves. A few leaves started to yellow as the new buds started to show. In the apex where the new growth has extended the most the yellowing leaves has reduced the most. Or is it a deficiency of something? |

A certain amount of yellow leaves on the Ilex crenata Bonsai are completely normal, leaves on most evergreens tend to last about 3-6 months, then drop off and are replaced by new ones.So about once a week or so go over your tree and remove any yellow leaves. |

What yellow leafs I can see is normal, they seem to be older leafs. I do think the soil should be looked at, is it still free draining. That is: pour water on it and it flows out freely after a short time. If not you need to repot, Cat litter is good, Akadama is good, both mixed with some grit. |

Hi, I will re-pot the holly and see if that helps, but It's seems to have got worse today. All the leaves are yellow even turning brown and falling off. I think it's on it's way out and I can't stop it. |

i guess its far too wet look at the moss growth thats a wet plant and it wants to be a lot dryer it has root rot and so now the leaves are going try drying it out slowly or pull the moss off may help the air get to it |
