Most of my garden is gravel/hardlandscaping so I dont have much of a weed problem. I do however get the odd tree/shrub spring up. These are pictures of two which I have allowed to grow. One is in the gravel and is multi stem and the other which was potted up two years ago is a single trunk. I believe they are of the same tree/shrub (maybe a form of cherry) Your help in identifying would be appreciated. Many thanks Tony |

I dont think its cherry maybe willow. Have they self seeded there or growing up of roots from a close tree. |

On first sight willow, on second glance plum seedling. Leafs are similar to willow but the bark is more plum. |

Have checked all the gardens surrounding my house. So far only a weeping willow which is completely different. Maybe the birds have been transplanting from further afield!. Will keep posting as they progress. Tony |

Did you eat peaches or apricots in your garden last year? Maybe a bone germinated. The trunk looks a bit like apricot, but the leaves are too narrow. For a peach tree, the leaves are a bit too wide compared to the one I have in my garden, but I would vote for a species close to Prunus persica... |
