I lost a couple of trees last winter because of frost but i think i may have it sorted. I was going to throw this shelf unit out and put it where it is until i decided what to do with it. Today i thought that if i put clear plastic around and on top it would make a nice unheated greenhouse for winter. The taller ones wouldn't fit but all the small ones would.

Good idea, I have a similar plan for this year with some bubble wrap. I'm hoping to make a removable frame for my bench.

If anything - put it in a shed if you have one. They don't need the humidity of being wrapped in plastic only the protection from deep frosts.

I used to have my stereo on one of those in the living room.

And did it ever suffer frost damage? No, right? See, it works...

Unfortunately i only have a tiny shed with no windows (local vandals made sure of that, twice, so i boarded it up). In that spot its protected slightly from the wind that whistles around the side of my house like a wind tunnel.
