The local bonsai nursery to me has some airlayers going on this variety so he must know it is do-able.

I was given this Acer and i'm doing an air layer but would anyone know what sort of Acer it is please? |

don, i have been told this is shishigashira or lions mane/head maple i have one the same, im also air layering it not very far from you, be interesting to see how you get on with it, by the way where did you get, was it plants galore? these are supposed to be quite hardy, reading through the posts on here stymie says it has the smallest leaves fo any acer, also the leaves aren't supposed to scorch as easy as other acer varieties. not sure if this helps mate, its just what i,ve picked up having had one of these for a few months. I was given this one by a friend. It was in a pot that had a lot of other stuff growing in such as grass and a dandelion and one or two other bits, he'd had it in his garden for a couple of years and only knew it was an Acer |
