Got my first trees 2 trees six weeks ago and looking for a third, seen this zelkova going cheap but to me the branch placements dont work they either point towards you or away from you if i were to remove branches is it possible to pick were you would like the new branches to start, of the other two, ones a chinese elm which i repotted in a larger pot and put outside and leaving to grow then chop the other is a small fukien tea im gonna take cuttings from these, for the third im realy looking for a pre styled tree, sorry the poor pics had to use my phone Grateful for any advice |

Welcome to the forum. Some of the best advice given to me on this very forum is to not buy something because it is cheap and I think that this applies here. If you are looking for a styled tree to look at and maintain then I recommend that you spend a bit more and get something you will be happy with. If you buy this and you are not happy with the branch placement you will either have to move them with wires if possible, live with it, or cut it right back and regrow everything which will take a long time. Nothing wrong with having projects on a long term but don't loose sight of what you want because you can take something home cheaply that you will regret later. |

Hi Junky - welcome to WT. Jewk's advice is good. If your Zelkova is the one in the photo then I think you don't have a Zelkova but a Chinese Elm. They are related, but not the same genus - Zelkova is Zelkova, C/Elm is Ulmus parvifolia. Cheers! J. |
