A few yellow leaves is a sign of overwatering, right? How should I combat this? Stop watering until they're green? Slow down massively? I only water when the top layer of soil doesn't feel very moist. |

It might help alot if you tell us what kind of tree you are talking about and put up a picture if you can. Some trees have naturally yellow new leaves or old leaves. It might be normal for your tree.

Elms do tend to shed old leaves, which turn yellow, then brown, then drop. It's not always a bad sign, as long as there is new growth replacing the old... If there is no new growth it does indicate poor conditions...the difficulty in getting enough light to the tree discussed in you other post may contribute, as will the lack of / quality of the potting medium. |

I am feeding (I've only had him for two weeks though, so I'm not sure what was going on before then.) I'm thinking I wait until the top layer of soil is totally dry? I'll get a photo. |

The few yellow leaves (kinda green/yellow, not totally yellow) fell off as I went to take a photo. There is plenty of new growth, though. |

Should I repot it? So long as I don't do anything to the roots it should be fine during summer right? Bigger pot and...what soil/base should I use? |

It is the time of year that the first leafs that came out are old in in the shade of newer, so the tree sheds them after reabsorbing the nutrients in the leafs, therefore they are yellow. More importantly: is the new growth healthy? If it is just pluck the yellow leafs and go about you business as normal.................. If not you have a serious problem and we need pictures to diagnose the ailment............... |

Sounds like there is nothing wrong with it. It probably just needs a trim. It is just losing some old leaves as it produces new ones. I very much doubt you are overwatering it. You have not had enough time. Don't let it get too dry inbetween watering. As it grows more new leaves it will be using more water. |

Ah, excellent. I'm kinda worried about the size of the pot and the material it's in. |
