Sorry mate but its one for the compost heap. Juniper MUST have lots and lots of foliage. Its its engine.

It looks that way, at least part of the tree.
Why? Very hard to say...............
The bending maybe, when you bend a branch, the cambium on the outside of the bend is stretched, on the inside it is squished together. The tree can repair that damage, but if you then are not satisfied with the bend you made and bend it the other way, the damage is multiplied and the tree might not be able to repair it quick enough. The sap flow stagnates and the foliage turn yellow. Keep it in the dappled shade and moist.

Some parts might survive, but that is out of your hands, there is nothing you can DO now just water and wait if nature does its trick.
This is the hard part of growing Bonsai, inexperience will kill trees, but you can only get experience by working on trees and taking a chance on the survival of the tree.

You have probably done too much work at once and it just could not take it. We have all done this in our time and it is the best way to learn.

that sucks. you posted this a few weeks back, right? and if i remember correctly you did this work under guidance? looks like the top branch might survive, you might be able to build a new tree from that eventually

That's right Bill.
The top does look ok. It's just the left bit that seems dying.
Question: does that mean it will spread or will the right hand bit survive?
As would be happy if a part if it survived!

Or is the top the strongest and the last to realise its dead?

hopefully its not something that will spread, possibly just overworked/pruned too hard. hows that top branch looking?
