Just been watching Gary Prout on BBC2 being interviewed in the Invictus Games programme. What a hero!

And it looks like he got a gold for archery. :30clap2: :30clap2: :30clap2:

I'm not sure how many people on here remember him. It's quite a while since he posted and I know he has had a lot of medical problems going on. Maybe he hasn't been able to keep his trees going? Gwen might know.

I never caught the interview but is it the same Gary that was on a TV show a few years ago, I'm sure he proposed on air if my memory is any good.

Gary has had a lot going on..... from getting married, to getting over a badly broken ankle, to training for the games.

He has recently moved back down to Wiltshire, and we are glad to have him..... :201thumbup:

This is his profile on the BBC site

Great post, Paul, thank you.

Are you in touch with Gary? Do you know if he still has his trees? I passed a couple of Zelcovas on to him a few years ago when he was in Headley Court (local to me at the time) and I wondered if he still has them. I think he had a thread on here about making a group planting with them.

He is one of my friends on Facebook so I have been keeping up with what he has been up too. I am not sure about his trees, I will ask and let you all know.

He was trying to 'TRAIN' Milly [his wife] to look after them and keep them watered so you never know............. :1crybaby: :1crybaby:

Hello all!

I've still got a few trees I've lost a couple though over the last 14 months. I was just too pooly to move them in last winter, to be honest I was quite sick then and they took a back step. I had awfull trouble trying to water them as I didn't have an outside tap so it involved filling a can and moving about on my backside to water them.

I'm also on a skinfull of medication that destroys my short term memory so I sometimes go days without remembering I have any trees to water.

All sounds pretty bleak but to be honest things are going pretty alright! We've a few uncertain times ahead but it always seems to sort it's self out.

Thanks again!

Paddy
