Oh... I only noticed now this sad news. Also I never met Stymie, I read and personally benefited from many of his posts. Condoleances to his family. You'll be missed.

R.i.p ..such a lovely man. Had the pleasure of meeting him and taking over a tree for him to look at. Helped me put when I 1st started the hobby.

I'm so absolutely gutted to find this thread. I've been meaning to ring him for the past couple of months but since my new job my feet haven't touched the floor...

Don was an extraordinary gentleman; humourous, stoic, gentle and yet incredibly positive and strong despite his ongoing medical setbacks. His positive outlook constantly amazed me and I will miss our 5 minute phone chats which inevitably turned into hour long discussions about life, bonsai, friends and family.

I'm deeply saddened that I missed his funeral and I hope that we are able to take forward his legacy of this brilliant, inclusive, friendly site.

I've never met a forum administrator with such patience and understanding for people from all walks of life, someone who put aside their own preferences to enable every voice to be heard with the same volume and importance, and someone for which nothing was too trivial or inconsequential to answer with the same passion as if he had never seen it before.

What a loss.

RIP Don. I'll miss you, my friend. X

Well said, Deano - echoing all our feelings, I think. J.

I'm deeply saddened to just find this news. My belated condolences to Mary and their family!

A wise old oak, I can only thank Don for the hospitality and wisdom he passed on. A wise and valuable mentor to all he met! RIP Don
