I wonder if it is worth some promotional posts on social media groups - advertise the benefits of participating in an online forum, the documented history of all the trees already shared and discussed? That might attract some people?

Yes Weetrees has gone very quiet and that's a discussion I had with Daryl some time ago. And that's a shame in my opinion.

I have had tremendous help and exceptional knowledge shared from the fantastic contributors in this forum. With no club near me and very little free time, WeeTrees has been perfect for me.

I love the way the discussions are sorted by topics, how fast the responses come and the various views I get each time I ask a question. I always appreciate the healthy debates that happen here when not every one is of the same opinion. Personally, the colour coding near our names also helps with adding weight to the responses provided. Many members have a great sense of humour and that's appreciated too!

I have been using this forum less mostly due to a surge in the amount work and also other activities taking time at home. I have to say that the less posts I see in here , the less I am checking the site. Yes the format is a bit outdated and sometimes not user friendly. I've tried Facebook but it's not ideal. You have no idea if the comments are coming from wise old bonsai artists or complete new know-it-all. It's disconcerting.

Anyway, I hope that you're all good and that your trees are coping with the heat.

Take care everyone
Ben

The posting of pictures is only thing stopping me from keeping old threads updated, too much effort uploading elsewhere and copying a link, I used to use photobucket untill they wanted my money, I too tried Facebook but not for me, but if the pics were as easy to post as Facebook, this forum would be perfect and maybe come back to life, I miss clicking on active topics and seeing loads of activity like the days when arihato and stymie were still with us

I totally agree - easy picture posting is an essential if the forum is going to become active again. Hope the new owners are reading this.

Ditto.

Facebook is a soulless stream, threads stitch a forum together.

As a new member, I appreciate there have been a lot of problems with spam recently making it really difficult to register and I'm sure this is the reason that so few posts and replies are added to the site.

I have asked for help with a bonsai soil problem I have but still, almost three days later my post hasn't even made it on to the pages. Also I post thank you replies to a number of members for their 'welcomes', these also have not reached the pages after three days.

Yes, a worrying lack of posts these days. This should be the busiest time of the year with re-potting and trees waking up.
I have certainly been getting my hands dirty recently.

I’m afraid to say it’s all gone over to facebook nowadays this old site was a favourite of mine and where my journey began with the shows etc, I’ve just checked and I think I actually joined early March 2012 where has all that time gone :132doh:

Sadly yes it has, although I am not one of those who have moved across. To me a forum is the best for learning and I have learnt a lot from this one. Like you my journey started here with an ugly Siberian Elm, which is now one of my best trees. I can understand people using FB for ease of uploading. Other forum do it so why hasn't this one added that facility.

maybe some can meet up at Corins bash.......

Hey all - it's been a while!

It will be because hosting images comes at a cost, and images these days can be quite large. Without going into details about ways around this, I think we can just put it down to cost.

I've not posted/visited for a few years - work, DIY and maintaining a large garden just get in the way - I always bite off more than I can chew!
Anyway, my beginner bonsai collection are mostly alive, but missing any quality work with the exception of last July I had a few hours private tuition with Corin and took along about 15 trees to work on. Most I just needed "next step" advice on how make progress, and to verify my suspicions that I was under watering and under feeding them all!

I'm planning to go to the Greenwood Bash next month - its only 15 minutes from me - might go both days.
