Anyone out there with a Zelkova??
I bought a mature Zelkova from a reputable place, in January.
I ve kept it in a cool conservatory overnight but had it outside during the day. As it has been sunny for over a week I expected to see some sign of bud swelling. There is none!
Is this something to worry about or are they slow to open?
I ve gently scraped a branch and it is green underneath.

mine were very lazy, often taking at least another month to bud out. don't panic

Ditto. It's always worrying at this time of year when everything else is getting going and the zelkovas are looking distinctly dead but they always catch up in a few weeks time :smallthumb:

Having the same issue here - actually NONE of my trees have budded out yet, even stuff which is normally out and kicking.

Hi my Zelkovas buds are just starting to swell so it will probably start to leaf in another 3 or 4 weeks.
Cheers Nigel

Very reassuring,
I was beginning to worry about my Zelkova, no signs of any budding yet but the larch and maples are galloping away.

And there we all were - talking about what an early spring it was. Seems that despite the warmer weather many of the trees are doing it in their own time anyway. Mine are mostly sulking because of massive root work - but that's understandable.
