Hi! I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I'm a new mother of a bonsai named Barney - my boyfriend bought Barney for me for Valentine's day...I followed the instructions on the box he came in and he has become dry even though I have been watering him regularly Can you help me identify his type and advise me on how to make him feel better! :) I've looked into re potting and new soil. Thanks guys! :D |

Welcome to weetrees Marie Kate. We can't identify your tree unless you at least describe it. i.e. Kind of foliage, bark, colour etc. and tell us at the same time exactly where you are keeping it. Surely the suppliers would know what it is. Try to keep the medium that it is planted in just moist and if possible, show us a photograph taken against a plain background. When you read your first post you'll appreciate that we are currently at a loss. sorry. Come back soon.

If you think it is dry even though you have been watering it maybe the water is running around the root ball rather than soaking in. Fill a bowl with water and put the whole pot in so that the surface is under the water. Water will soak in and you will see bubbles of air coming off the soil surface. Leave it for 10-15 minutes to make sure it is well soaked and then take it out and let it drain. Until we know more about what kind of tree you have this will at least make sure that the roots are getting the water that they need. |
