hi all i was wondering how little root you can get away with when bare rooting beech trees? a friend says i can dig some up from a hedge. . will they survive with not many roots? |

The rule is get as many as possible. I have dug up a few from a hedge and they did not survive - it's impossible to trench a decent root ball as several thick roots all intertwine. |

Yes but put it in a plastic bag to conserve moisture until recovery. |
