Following some of the posts folks have made about the Fuji Cherry, I though I'd keep my eyes open to see if I could find any. I was at a nursery buying some hedging plants and found some on a stand. I had a good hunt through and found this one as its got three trunks so I though I might be able to develop these? What do you think? |

I went choppy choppy with my two garden centre ones but left pretty long stubs as I wasn't sure what dieback would be like....they've both back budded like crazy though so I could probably have been quite a bit more aggressive. |

They're great aren't they? This one is loaded with flower buds - think I'll wait until its flowered and then chop it a bit. I want to try and enhance the triple trunk element of the tree so think I'll remove some of the excess. I would like to pot it into a decent pot as soon as possible but as none of my trees are in pots, this would be a first for me. What sort of pot do you reckon? I'm gonna do some looking soon so I can be prepared! |

To be honest it's probably better off going into a pond basket or similar (or the ground) while you are doing any major development work.....I know how tempting it is to get trees into "proper" pots but I bet when you take a look at the roots they will need a fair bit of work which will come along far faster if they are in something appropriate for the job required. I'm a relative rookie myself but this spring I've moved quite a number of mine out of pots and into pond baskets as they just weren't ready. Just my opinion though, in the end we all do our own thing |

Mines gone straight in, the roots needed no chopping at this size for my pot, just to give you a feel for cream square pots!-) |
