Hi all.

Its still quite cold out and really windy so i dont want to put my trees out yet. Im scared i kill them! Were bday gifts and i love bonsai.
I have a chinese elm. Thousand stars and a carmona.
Im in a small 4 in a block and my room and loving room are north facing so pretty dull. Bathroom and kitchen are south facing so where would be my best choices for now until the weathers better and the elm and thousand stars can go out?
Sorry for being a total noob....but i am

I was also looking into some extra lightin while indoors. I found a cfl daylight bulb for a lamp so was going to get a couple to pop over them for some of the day as an extra boost.

The chinese elm can go out now and stay out. The other two need protection from the cold so they're summer trees only in the UK. I've not kept them myself so reluctant to offer too much advice. See http://www.bonsai4me.com/species_guide.html for more details. Please be aware that even experienced people sometimes struggle with these so best of luck with them. The Chinese Elm is much more forgiving.

I'm not sure what the weather is like in Lanarkshire but I'm betting it's a bit colder than it is further south, so if you're still getting frosts or a lot of cold weather you may want to hold off putting the elm out for a few weeks if it's been in the warm all winter. It definitely needs to go outside at some point though

Aw im sad my other 2 are so difficult to keep....the issue with garden centre birthday gifts i suppose. Its been really windy the past few nights, bins chucked across garden etc and still cold so will hold off a bit for the elm so it doesnt end up flying away! Would the south facing bathroom be best to try for now as the window is frosted so will protect a bit from sun but will be better for humidity???? What a bummer i love my little carmona and thousand stars too. Iv got a little ficus (not in bonsai) that does great in the kitchen so maybe a ficus bonsai would be good for there.

Away from a radiator is important to preserve humidity. I suggest you search and read around about these two to give them the best possible care. Ficus is easy to keep and good for bonsai.
