There is this white fungus/lichen (dunno...) growing on the dead wood of my buddleia. Whenever I had green moss trying to establish itself there, I applied vinegar and that was the end of it. This time it doesn’t seem to work. I tried that last week, the white stuff became green immediately on contact with the vinegar and I thought that was the end of it. A week later and the white organism is still there, still gaining ground.
Any idea?

(Oh and I have some mushrooms growing too but I am not concerned about that)

Lime sulphur is anti fungal, it'll get rid of it

Thank you John. I have just applied some. Let’s see if that gets rid of that stubborn fungus!

Yep. Lime Sulphur did what Vinegar failed to do. Thanks John.

Fungus is always a sign of something being slowly eaten. Usually dead stuff but it looks like live tissue is being attacked in your tree's case.

Hi Roy

I am no expert on fungi (and I don't think any of us know much by the sounds of it) but I would say that your fungi may not be armful. They usually feed on dead material so my guess is that yours are feeding on some kind of dirt it found in the gaps there.
