To say I'm super stoked by my new Paul Rodgers Ceramics crackled Shohin bonsai pot would be a complete understatement.
Well priced, well packaged and excellent dialogue throughout made this purchase a dream.
I love unglazed pots and this just adds that extra touch. His decaying pots take this art to a whole new realm.
I must buy some more.
This little bowl won't be destined for a bonsai tree planter, but rather a simple quite basic Kusamono, perhaps employing a Sisyrinchium or Rhodopoxsis sp. and some moss. We'll see how it all turns out later.
But for now you could say I'm well pleased.

OK. impatience got the better of me, even to the point of working in the rain..lol, This is my first attempt at a simple Kusamono in a Paul Rogers ceramics pot. A substrate of molar clay was mixed with John Innes and Ericaceous compost 4:2:2. The plants are from the garden centre which we're purchased a couple of weeks prior. (Sisyrinchium sp. Sapphire & Leptinella sp. Platts Black. (I was undecided whether I should have used "Biscuitella" or not, but I think the flowers will suit this planting group better) Finally, I finished off with some moss that was growing in a damp area at the side of the house (no idea of the name) Well that's it, how basic can one get. Hopefully, it all survives and matures and if and when it does flower in the Spring it will look 100 times better. From a purists standpoint, there is probably a million and one things wrong with it but I'm willing to learn via my mistakes...C

The composition is a lot smaller than it looks, still an accent plant Kusamono but not Shitakusa (pronounced shistacksa)

For someone who wasn’t going to get too involved and just wanted a couple of trees, you seem to have totally got the bonsai bug! :132doh:

Nice pot :smallthumb:

Nah, you don’t need rope. Maybe just a couple of spools of wire, some tools, a few pots, some soil etc etc etc
