I'm a keen gardener and Bonsai I guess is just an extension of this.
But I seem to be acquiring a passion for accent planting as well, Kusamono/Shitakusa
I have quite a few dotted around the bench from Dwarf Iris's, Sisyrinchium, Rhodohypoxis and various fern and grass combos.
Here is my latest pot, made by Funkyfish Ceramics. My plan is to incorporate, (space permitting) Ophiopogon planiscapus Nigrescens ( Black Ornamental Grass) for height with Wild Strawberry (Fragaria vesca) suffused with local moss. hopefully, it will lead to a nice composition.

Just as a footnote, I am finding it increasingly difficult to get plants and seeds delivered into Northern Ireland, both Amazon and eBay won't deliver.

Been through those Paul, very interesting indeed.
Rita Cooper is very good.

Cocomono! :07hysterical:
The purists can turn away now.....
For those who don't like laying out lots of money on expensive accent pots. Here is a little novel idea made from a leftover coconut shell. (70p) Still unfinished but I think you can see where I am going with this. I don't know if I can apply the Shou-Sugi-Ban technique to a coconut shell but it may be worth a try.......lol

Delivery of Alpine Strawberry (Fragaria vesca) today. I will be using these as accent plants and for garden pots. Their fruit is said to be so much nicer than their commercial cousins. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. Let's see what we can do with these...On the lookout for another nice accent pot, I may go up-market and approach a named potter..(probably developing another obsession here) :07hysterical:

Some of my alpine strawberries are quite small fruit and bitter......... so don't buy the cream just yet :132doh:

They make good accents, you just need to cover to keep the birds off, not to mention the slugs

Stand by to greet your Capt.
My Iris lacustris "Capt. Collingwood has finally put in an appearance. It must have been all that wet weather we are having that has saturated the ground and he was stood in a puddle of water this morning. I have to say I'm super impressed with this diminutive little Iris, such a beauty. The plan now is to feed up this solitary plant and I look forward to many blooms next season. Hopefully I'll get to use it in a nice little scheme, in an equally nice complimentary pot
