Has anyone tried growing bonsai in lechuza pon substrate
I've had good results with all my bonsai planted in it

1 part zeolites
1 part lava rock
1 part pumice
And fertiliser for 6 ,months slow release

Advantages
Does not break down like akadama
Seems to hold a generous amount of water
Reasonable price at just under £16 delivered for 18 litre

My probable concern (upon reading the literature) would be that it blocks the development of fungal spores. There are certain fungi such as Mycorrhizas which are beneficial to the root systems of certain trees. Also, they have included a slow-release fertilizer into the mix, so what would be the NPK of such. I'm not knocking the product in any way just suggesting that there are certain aspects that may be problematic. but again, the proof is in the pudding as they say.
