Well I finally gave up on one Sloe and one Chinese Elm and for no apparent reasons either I’m a little gutted to say the least but seems loads of us lost something this year

The small Chinese Elm that I thought I had lost has just started to show signs of life.

Chinese Elm here, too. There’s some Green under the bark still, but no sign of movement.

I also had three Acers burst in to leaf early only for the leaves to turn brown but stay limp, Eventually the leaved dried and could be removed, One, A Kiyohime has regrown new leaves but they're tiny!!

I was going to repot it this year but was caught out when it leafed out so quickly!!, The other two were both Little Princess, They're somewhat slower to recover, All three had been in a cold greenhouse through winter, There were more than a dozen more Acers in there with them that leafed out later with no problems! :200unsure:

Not sure how far they'll get, but over the last couple of days buds have appeared on the chinese elm I thought I'd lost.
Fingers crossed!

Yep - I'm still ensuring the soil is moist on about 8 trees - just in case!

My very first tree, a little pyracantha, looked like it had some sort of rust all last summer and through the winter. Instead of budding out in spring, it just went brown and died.

I lost a good sized Chinese Elm too, very disappointing as it was really taking shape,

I have lost one before and said i would never have another, think they need shelter over the winter, even mild winters. Should have put it in the porch or something.

Just lost another tree, actually lost a tree. Went on hol for 2 weeks and now im home i have one tree missing, a small Deshojo. Total mystery.

 Ps, forgot to mention.

The weird thing about Chinese Elms compared to other trees.

The ones i owned and died, although old and been in this country a good while they didnt seem to know it was winter and still had most of the leaves.

I always winter my Chinese Elm in the greenhouse. Every morning I open the door and close it at night. I had a couple of smaller ones die off over winter before the greenhouse was installed.

Sounds like the Deshojo was stolen...?
